If riding across the country on my bike simply puts a smile on the face of one person who has suffered the effects of cancer, then my trip will have been a resounding success. Studying Civil Engineering I will never be able to figure out how to cure cancer, but this bike ride is something that I can do. I am riding to show everyone that there is hope in the fight against cancer, and to honor all of those who have in any way suffered cancer’s terrible effects. I hope that this ride can serve as a means of bonding people throughout the country in an effort to put forth every possible effort to fight cancer. From financial support to volunteering all of us can make a difference in the life of cancer patients across the country, or in the quest to find a cure. Fighting cancer is never easy, but hopefully with national support for finding a cure, and providing for those who are suffering we can fight cancer as a community rather then leaving individuals to fight alone. One day cancer will be defeated, and I only hope that efforts like this can bring people together throughout the country to make that day a reality sooner then later.
I will be graduating in 2008 with a degree in Civil Engineering, after that, I hope to continue my baseball career wherever they will let me play. Hopefully always remembering to never let events of today cloud my dreams of the past.
