Trip Leader
In the summer of 2006, when I participated in the 4k for the first time, I rode for the people I love who had fought or were fighting cancer. Their bravery, their struggle, their pain, their love, their persistence, and their hope - that is what inspired me in my trek across the country. As I visited communities, I met more and more people who displayed those same strengths, and the list of people for whom I was riding grew ever longer. If the trip started as an individual voyage grounded in my personal life, it ended as a collective experience that expanded my belief in the universality of our sorrow and our infinite strengths.
Now I’m riding again, this time for all the people I met along the ride two years ago. I believe we must all help each other, for I have seen that what we may not be able to do alone, we can do through the support, love, and grace of each other. I believe in the mission of the 4k: to unite communities in the fight against cancer by raising funds, spreading awareness, and fostering hope.
