This past year my aunt became the first person in my family to be diagnosed with cancer. It came as a shock to my whole family and we all were very worried. We gave her support and encouragement but I knew it wasn’t enough for what she was going through. While driving my aunt to chemotherapy and seeing her go bald I knew that I could do more than just give her my support. When I found out about the Hopkins4K, I knew this was the perfect way to give hope and support to my aunt and to use her story to inspire others. I will never be able to cure cancer because I am not gifted in medicine, but this is a small way in which I can show that I care. The 4,000 mile ride is going to be long and tough, but it will never compare to the journey cancer patients face each day. While riding across the United States I hope to touch as many people as I can because I know everyone I meet will touch me in a significant way.
Future Goal: Create microfinance institutions to help bring people in third
world countries out of poverty.
