First day off!
Today we woke up bright and ealy and headed off to the Hope Lodge to make breakfast for some of the residents. The Hope Lodge is associated with the ACS and provides a place for cancer patients undergoing treatment to stay so they don’t have to deal with the extra stress of commuting.

Babak and Meredith cooked up a feast while the rest of us chatted it up with the residents who had come from all over in order to partake in the benefits of the Hope Lodge. I think I speak for everyone when I say we were totally impressed with the Hope Lodge, its residents and its staff as well – Hop 4K should definitely stay in touch with these folks.

From there we strolled to the ACS for a yummy lunch of wraps, chips, salads and sodas – this trip really is all about the food! Afterwards, we headed to the Cleveland Clinic where we met a world-renowned music therapist who treated us as if we were patients of hers. Again, a fantastic time was had by all – how can you beat plastic vegetable maracas and singing “When the Saints go Marching In”, “Mamma Don’t Allow” and “Twinkle, Twinkle”? That’s right, you can’t.

Unless of course, you spent your evening at the West Lake High School Relay for Life. There we bike around the track a couple times, had a great dinner (catching a theme?) and chatted it up with the different groups and cancer survivors. Eventually though, we did have to pack it up and head to the YMCA where we caught a few winks before our ride to Sandusky...
