Mt. Baldy!
No one wanted to leave Michigan City without seeing the sand dunes of Mount Baldy. Some of us went last night, and the rest went this morning to see the sun rise. It was absolutely breathtaking no matter what time you saw it. Unfortunately, everyone was completely exhausted in the morning and we overslept a bit. We took our time getting ready and, once the route for the day was set, we headed out. The day started slowly with a group ride through a 9-mile bike path toward Chicago. The scenery of the bike path soon gave way to Route 12, a busy roadway that runs through Gary, IN. For safety reasons, we caravanned through the rough parts and eventually made it to our destination for the evening. Today’s ride was little unconventional because we rode in smaller groups as usual, but always kept the groups ahead and behind in sight. So, everyone who biked was together for the entire 50-mile ride.

We stayed at the Calvert House on the campus of the University of Chicago. The Calvert House is a place for Catholic students of the university to meet to worship or just have some fun. Katie was waiting for us when we arrived and she seemed to be feeling a lot better, which made us all happy to see. Dinner was delicious and everyone got to take a hot shower. We talked to Father Mike, who lives in the house and he told us everything we needed to know for our day off in Chicago. Everyone finished the day in awesome spirits, excited to kick back and relax tomorrow.
