Sandusky, OH
Today was a day of broken pedals, popped tires, and one team deciding to go all out. The ride started out with a nice slow ride out of Cleveland, escorted by our two vans. Luckily there is little traffic on Sunday mornings, so the honking of horns and yelling motorists was kept to a minimum. Jessica Lee unfortunately did not make it out of the city before she realized her pedals had been put on wrong, resulting in her pedal tearing off when she tried to unclip from it. Also, Jen Chang had a slow leak and required both vans to pull over. After that, Travis, Dave, Chris and I left the group to inflict unnecessary pain on ourselves by attempting to average 20 mph or above for the entire day. We got into Sandusky early and were able to stop for milkshakes. We arrived at Jackson Junior High around 3 to find that the generous principal, Scott Methany, was already preparing dinner for us. He and other staff members prepared a wonderful meal for us consisting of fish and pasta. After eating, we disembarked for Cedar Point, a local amusement park. We rode a couple roller coasters before getting rained out. We arrived back at the middle school around 9:30 and quickly prepared for bed. Wakeup is at 6:30 tomorrow because we are going to present to the students of Jackson Junior High before we disembark. Tomorrow will be our first century (100 mile ride) and Travis, Aaron, Steve and I plan on attempting to complete it in less than 6 hours (a feat which makes one considered a “true cyclist”). I would like to thank our gracious hosts and the wonderful facilities of the Jackson Junior High for providing us with food and lodging for the evening. From all of us here on the 4k, we would like to again thank everyone we have met so far for helping us on our way.

Thanks for all your support!
