I have only lost one friend to cancer, but it has been far enough for me to realize the significance of the disease; I am riding in memory of Richard Smalley, a revolutionary chemist/physicist who had suffered from leukemia. Despite his diagnosis, he worked vigorously in his Rice lab until his last days, uncovering how nanotechnology could advance the fight against cancer. The Hopkins4k is a gesture that keeps dreams like Dr. Smalley’s alive; it is a celebration of willpower, and I, along with all the other riders, would like to show the world our determination to make cancer history.

Future Goals:
Make it to San Francisco, graduate with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, and go on to Film School.
