Day Off
I had been waiting for so long to receive my care package from my parents so that I could buzz my hair! I hate long hair, especially the way it feels under a sweaty helmet. So the first thing I did when I woke up was bring my clippers and a stack of newspaper into the bathroom so I could finally finish the deed. After I laid the paper out on the floor, I plugged in the clippers, but when I turned them on, nothing happened. Then I learned that they only turn on the electricity at this camp during the nighttime when you need the light to see. Oh well I guess I’ll have to keep waiting.

Anyway, it was a gorgeous day. Sitting out on the porch felt so good because it was right in the sunlight. I sat out there and ate breakfast and watched the three Sig Ep clowns play beerball (baseball with a beer can as the ball.) Some people went on a short hike into the woods. A few riders, namely those who had to drive yesterday, decided to go back down to the bottom of the mountain and complete the climb, although they were accompanied by Chris and Erin, who felt driven to do it again. Once we were all together again in the late morning, we shuttled both vans down into Boulder to spend the day.

We first went to the University Bike Shop as there were plenty of tune-ups needed for the imminent mountains. I didn’t need anything done to my bike, but I did buy a new pair of kick-ass sunglasses from a street merchant. Jake and I tried to get into an oxygen bar, but it was on lock-down because they got caught selling alcohol to a minor. Nonetheless, Pearl Street is such a cool strip. There are cafes to hang out in, and there are local stores to browse through. Everyone seemed like the outdoors type in that they enjoyed their environment and valued health and fitness. I definitely want to move to Boulder. It would be so awesome to have the mountains right outside your back door!

We ate dinner at a Mexican restaurant. I got to sit with Katie Young and her boyfriend, Andre, who just flew in from Baltimore, and would be spending the next few days with us. He’s a cool guy, and we are all happy to have him join us. We rendez-voused back at the University Bike Shop and shuttled back up to Ward. We had one more go at the off-road experience. Most of us had to pile out so we could get through some parts of the off-road. Then it was time for bed.
